what a difference a cake makes....

So sometimes I just wanna have a play.... and this was one of those days lol..

I wanted to try a birdcage cake as I love the vintage feel of them... so as I was building up the cake I realised what a nice two tier cake this would make too lol...

I love the vintage gooseberry green and cream together - although it took ages to attach all those pearls lol..

then I added the birdcage

and a few flowers just for a splash more colour...

How spoilt???

Good morning... 

Well Sam (the wife) turned 40 in December so I said I would make her a cake (well I could hardly buy one now could I lol).  Sams favourite cake is Coffee and Walnut as it's what her Mom maid her every year.... gosh I had a lot to live up to lol!!

Well the cake was a success and even though i'm not a coffee lover I may have had a slice or two lol..

We also had two small parties - one for friends and a family meal...

This was her friend party cake... blue blue blues lol..

And her family meal cake...

well 3 cakes can't be bad lol!!

So I was asked for a choc cake...

And that is what I did...

Choc cake filled with chocolate ganache and caramel covered in milk choc ganache and covered in 100's and 1000's....

I think I put lbs on just looking at it lol!!

I have been neglecting you....

So I must say sorry lol...

I set up a blog and then forget to keep posting my new cakes lol.. so I thought I would show you some of my Christmas makes:

It's a cupcake -any flavour - with something hidden in the middle..

These beauties have milk chocolate ganache hiding..

Be careful though.. don't try it... it is soooooo scrummy lol!!

Bread

So many of us cakers like to make other things as well.. in fact I currently have a cheesecake chilling... white chocolate...yummy!!

Well one thing I have always wanted to try is BREAD!!

So I went on a course at Blue door bakery (link in sidebar) 

This was the beauty of a box of bread I brought home... now as we were leaving I took some fresh yeast to give it a try at home... 

I was well prod of myself and fresh bread will be on the menu for a while lol!!!

White, wholemeal and a seeded wholemeal all by myself... now what to make next?.......

Sorry I have been quiet.. I keep forgetting to update lol!!

Anyway yesterday we had a Mommie and toddler Halloween party so I made some cute Halloween cupcakes... which just happens to tie into this weeks challenge over at THAT CRAFT PLACE where we want to see all your Halloween creations!!

How cute eh???

There is some hidden surprises inside them too lol..

Maybe a bit of blood (strawberry jam), or chocolate ganache??

I have always wondered about flowers..

I am so happy with little ones and cutters but what about bigger cakes??

I have watched you tube but I have to say there is something about seeing it in person so off I went to Cakey Bakey art school and this is what I made:

It really is huge lol

The C word......

Well hello there..

Blogger tells me I have had lots of visitors... feel free to leave a comment or question..

So as the C word is on its way my house smells like the spirit isle... 

The good thing about making your own or buying from a cake maker is that you can pick exactly what goes in..

I have had port, sherry, dark rum, brandy and cider requests so far lol..

Now if I could just remember to feed the cakes and not me these cakes will be VERY merry lol!!

My fist cakey challenge...

So hello and good morning.

Now as some of you will know I have made cards for several years, however it is all about the cakey side of crafts now... however what we have realised is the two can mix..

So here is my first cakey post for That craft shop - a shop that not only sells amazing card crafts but lots of things that can be used on cakes too...

So this week the theme is THINK PINK

and here is my cake:

So that fab Ballerina is one of TCP's stencils... I just used some coloured royal icing to stencil it on the cake..

The rest is just pink icing, flower petals and a ball tool..
